Last weekend the team turned out in numbers for only the third road race of the season so far.

After the disappointment of the Inter Insular weekend, the team were keen to take a break from training and get in some road racing miles, and it showed,  with some great results and a strong presence across the divisions.

The race was delayed by 30 mins and race length reduced by one lap to allow hedge cutting to finish in Talbot Valley. Once underway, and with each division starting separately, the riders eased into the race with a gentle neutral lap around the 6.5 mile  Reservoir Circuit.

Before the first lap was complete, Jason Kon had dropped from the Div 2 pack with a technical issue leaving Simon Francart to lead the RBLN charge ahead of the fast approaching Div 3 group which contained Alex Clark, Steven Palmer, Simon Vernon & Esther Reid. After resolving his technical issues, Jason quickly passed the Div 3 pack and set about catching riders ahead.

Heading into the second half of the race, it looked like all the action was in Div 3 with Esther taking the Div 4 win after battling with the Div 3 riders and as the final lap started both Steven & Simon still had a chance of taking a win in the division. The punchy reservoir car park climb proved to be the decisive moment in the race as Steven & velo club academy rider Ollie Duguid escaped the pack and sprinted the final climb to the finish line.
